From our 3 facilities we operate enriched Daycare programs for ages 3 through 9 as well as an independent Preschool for ages 3 and 4. In Penticton, our new Before and After School program is based at Carmi Elementary with transportation to and from Parkway and Wiltse Schools. ENROLLMENT UPDATE APRIL 27, 2010

NORTH VANCOUVER: We have some new openings for Preschool and Daycare beginning September 2010. Read the details below. If you are looking for Daycare or Preschool beginning in 2011 or 2012, be prudent and get your registration in now. Don't be one of the many families to whom we have to regretfully say "Sorry, we cannot provide Childcare for your child at Little Rascals". Please note - due to high demand (North Van only), individual/family tours cannot be accommodated. Regular Open House nights will be scheduled for parents wanting to tour the facilities and learn more about our programs. Watch for notices here at the Little Rascals website.

PENTICTON: Little Rascals Before and After School program (including KinderCare) has only a few spaces available currently. KINDERCARE CHANGE FOR 2009/2010 Sept 15, 2008

Due to the School Board foray into the provision of full day Kindergarten, which, according to the School Board, will be ramped up in 2009, Little Rascals will reduce it's KinderCare program to only one classroom, or to a Before and After School format beginning September 2009. We will monitor the school board plans and re-evaluate our KinderCare provision as the facts become available. Please note that in the case of universal implementation of full-day Kindergarten in Norh Vancouver, we will still provide a wide range of Before and After School programs for children in Kindergarten through grade 3 or beyond. It is important that families requiring KinderCare (before and after school services) from Little Rascals in 2009 and beyond register as early as possible to ensure their chances of receiving a space.

PRESCHOOL OPEN HOUSE & REGISTRATION - April 14 Feb 20, 2008

PRESCHOOL: Please note that for families already registered or families interested in registering in our Delbrook Plaza Preschool programs (morning programs for age 3 and age 4), there will be an Open House and Registration Monday, April 14, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. The Delbrook Plaza Preschool program has been added for 2008 to help meet the overwhelming demand for Preschool at Little Rascals. The address is:

SNOW CLOSURE UPDATE Jan 29, 2008

Due to inclement weather conditions, it was not possible to open the Daycare or Preschool today. We will leave keep families updated with a recording on the daycare phone number, as well as with this website. Please understand that we have received hundreds of calls today and that we will not be able to return most of them.

We plan to be open again tomorrow, Wednesday. Though Environment Canada's weather forecasting leaves plenty to be desired, they are forecasting freezing temperatures and some additional snow overnight and into Wednesday, followed by freezing rain. Please drive carefully in these conditions and be extra careful when walking on the road, walkways and stairs.

To meet the ever growing demand at Little Rascals for Preschool, we will open 2 additional morning Preschool classes at our Delbrook Plaza facility. Based on the large number of registrations for our 2007 programs, it is expected that the new spaces will get taken quickly. If you are interested in a space in our additional Age 3 or Age 4 Preschool programs, we strongly recommend that you get your registration in now to ensure a space for your child. We will be having a Preschool Open House and Registration night Monday, November 5, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. This is the perfect opportunity for families to view our facility, to meet our Preschool teachers, and to register in our Preschool programs while there are still spaces available for the 2008/2009 school year.

PRESCHOOL 2007 - GRADUAL ENTRY INFO June 9, 2007

The new Preschool school year starts Thursday, September 6th for 3 years olds and Friday, September the 7th, for 4 year olds. These days will be for gradual entry classes, one hour in length, parents must attend the whole time. The details will be mailed to all parents in August. Short notice facility tours are available for these openings only.

ORIENTATION AND GRADUAL ENTRY FOR JULY ENROLLMENT May 18, 2007

The new school year starts July 3rd for Daycare programs at Little Rascals. We will be welcoming dozens of new children and families into our 3-5 Daycare, KinderCare and Before/After school programs. In addition, dozens of currently enrolled children will be graduating up into these programs from their current programs. For all children starting in the 3-5 Daycare program and the KinderCare program there are orientation and gradual entry procedures that parents need to be aware of.

3 to 5 Daycare
For children entering the 3-5 program, there will be a gradual entry program to ensure that the experience of starting Daycare is a positive one and that they are comfortable and confident with spending time away from Mom and Dad. All new 3-5 Daycare parents will be contacted in mid to late June regarding the orientation and gradual entry procedure. Please note, gradual entry cannot occur prior to July 3.

KinderCare
For parents of children entering the KinderCare program (new and current children), there will be a KinderCare orientation evening on May 28. If you have not been contacted, please email or call for information. All details of our KinderCare program as they pertain to children and parents will be covered. Please note, the KinderCare orientation evening is only for families with a confirmed space in KinderCare starting this summer.

DAYCARE OPEN HOUSE ON APRIL 26 - 6:30 PM To 7:30 PM Feb 27, 2007

On Thursday, April 26, at 6:30pm, we will be having a Daycare Open House. Instead of individual family tours, we now provide regular Open Houses to give prospective parents the opportunity to view our facility, meet our caregivers and Directors, and partake in a presentation and a question and answer session.

- the doors will not open until 6:30pm - this Open House is for parents only.
- this Open House is for parents seeking or registered for Daycare at Little Rascals.

REGISTRATION ENQUIRIES NEED TO BE BY EMAIL Feb 27, 2007

We are no longer taking any phone calls regarding registration. We also cannot receive walk-in inquiries at the Daycare. All registration inquiries must be through email - we will respond to all emails in a prompt manner. The primary focus of our caregiving staff is to continue to provide the quality of Childcare that Little Rascals is well known for. A substantial increase in inquiries and registration over the last 2 years reached the point where our staff became bogged down by continuous calls and walk-in inquiries. We would not be fulfilling our obligation to our children and families if we continue to allow our staff to be distracted in this manner.

Our sincerest apologies if this inconveniences anyone.

NO MORE REGISTRATIONS FOR 2007 Jan 21, 2007

As of Monday, January 22, 2007, we will no longer take registration forms for enrollment in 2007/2008 school year (July 1, 2007 - June 30, 2008).

Though our programs for the 2007/2008 school year have been advertised as full with waitlists, the number of registrations has continued to grow. As we do not have the manpower to deal with all the excess registrations and to maintain excessively long waitlists, we have to cut off registration for 2007/2008.

Our sincerest apologies to all those families whom we will not be able to serve in the 2007/2008 school year.

PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION POLICY UPDATE Jan 21, 2007

In order to ensure that we provide first right of refusal to currently enrolled families with siblings (part of the Continuum of Care mandate), we can no longer confirm or guarantee enrollment for the Preschool programs until the February of the year in question. Currently enrolled families will have until that time to decide if they will enroll a sibling in Preschool. Once the deadline passes, the remaining spaces will be offered, in order of receipt of registration, to the new families who have registered in Preschool for that school year. This usually results in 10-15 new spaces being available in the Three's program, and no spaces being available in the Four's program. Note, most 3 year old's graduate into the 4's program, thus leaving no new spaces.

As we are no longer taking registration for 2007, the next school year is the 2008/2009 school year. Any new families that register, from this day onwards, will be placed, in order of receipt of registration, on the waitlist. In February 2008, we will contact, approximately, the first 10-15 families on the waitlist and offer spaces in the program for enrollment commencing September 1, 2008. At this point, the program will be full.

Please note, as this is a new policy, there will be a transitionary phase that may effect a small number of currently enrolled families for the 2007/2008 school year who have not registered. Registration of siblings is also substantially higher, resulting in an unforeseen conflict for spaces. We apologize to those families that we cannot accomodate as per the Continuum of Care mandate. The massive increase in registrations over the last year have blind-sided us. Ten years ago we would get 2 or 3 registrations per month. Now we get as many as 15 per day. We are trying our best to manage these new circumstances but it will take a year before we transition through the initial stages of our registration policy changes. In particular, we will honour all previous guarantees in writing (including email) for spaces in our programs. We will not renege on any guarantee.
